Top Banana Home Delivered Groceries, Inc. (Top Banana) was established in January 1982, as an outgrowth of its founders experience with the difficulties of her own mother in obtaining groceries. In 2004, Top Banana was competitively recognized as one of the area's Best Small Charities by the "Catalogue for Philanthropy."

Top Banana provides service to people who find the rigors of grocery shopping difficult or impossible. Service areas include: Prince George's, and portions of Montgomery, and Charles Counties in Maryland and Washington, D.C.

The focus of this organization is the plight of our silent hungry. Having groceries delivered allows these individuals to live healthier, more independent lives, while aging with dignity in their own homes.

Top Banana has been a leading and integral part in educating the care-giving communities, public and private agencies and government entities about the positive results of groceries delivered into the kitchen of the areas senior population. In 2001 the Federal Medicaid Commission added grocery shopping as a paid service.

The vital service that Top Banana provides has been recognized by the State of Maryland, Prince Georges' and Montgomery counties with support given through grant funds.

As a non-profit, Top Banana has its own board of directors whose members are made up of a variety of concerned community leaders from the business, religious, and community who donate their time in serving the public through this organization.
