A Win-Win Event for All

In 2005 Top Banana successfully kicked off its first Home Delivered Resource Fair - an event that brought bag fulls of information about community programs and services directly to the homes of elderly and disabled residents who cannot attend traditional information fairs or senior centers. The event linked more than 1,300 people from eleven meals-on-wheels programs in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties with information that will help them remain independent and healthy.
Sponsorships by community-minded organizations made the project possible.
Here is how it worked. Community and government agencies and local businesses participated in the "fair" for a nominal fee. Volunteers loaded materials and give- away items into handsome reusable totes that were distributed by meals-on-wheels programs to their clients.Funds donated by the participating agencies and sponsors were used by Top Banana to provide service to low-income residents in need of our home delivery service. A win- win event for all.
